RECOVERY MAPS include all known recoveries to and from West Berkshire and around. It includes recoveries from other ringers notified to the group and taken from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Ringing & Recoveries summaries web page. Recoveries are those over 5 kilometres from the place of ringing. Recaptured less than 5 km are known as retraps and apart from very sedentary species for many this is within home territory. Some species have considerable numbers of recoveries and have sub-pages for within and outside the United Kingdom. Recoveries fall broadly into the following:

• Recaptured by other ringers known as a “control”.
• Sightings of colour rings or other forms of tag in the field reported to the BTO.
• Casualties; ringed remains  reported to the BTO; most often these are: killed by a cat, hit glass, road casualty, shot.

Clicking on an icon gives recovery details: Ring number, Ringing Site and Recovery Site with Coordinates, the days between captures and the distance.
