The BTO administers the Nation Ringing Scheme
The BOC (formerly Reading Ornithological Club) was founded in 1947 to promote education and study of wild birds, their habitats and conservation in the Reading area and county of Berkshire. The club organises a full programme of events with indoor evening meetings and outdoor excursions. It publishes a quarterly newsletter and the annual Berkshire Bird Report.
The NDOC (founded in 1959) records the bird life around Newbury for a radius of around 12 miles from Newbury Museum in the town centre. It organises trips for local birders both locally, throughout the UK and Europe as well as indoor meetings with talks by local and nationally recognised birders.
Reading and Basingstoke Ringing is a web site devoted to bird ringing (banding) in the vicinity of these two towns and adjacent areas of Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
Berksbirds is a web site by a local birder. It is inter-active and allows birders in Berkshire to add records to the website as they seen them and thus provides news of sightings.
